01The agreement
These terms are between Tabworthy and you — the business that creates an account, and everyone you let use it. By creating an account, or by using a till somebody else set up for your shop, you agree to them.
They go together with our Privacy Policy, which says what we hold and what you can do about it. Read that one too; it is shorter than it looks.
02Your account
You need to be 18 or over and able to enter a contract where you trade. One account belongs to one business. The person who opens it is the owner, and the owner is responsible for the account.
Give us details that are true, and keep them current — the email on the account is how you get back in if you are locked out, and the country decides the currency the shop trades in.
03Staff, PINs and tills
Tabworthy is built for a counter that several people stand behind. You can add staff, give them a role, and put them on a branch. Everything done on your tills is your responsibility, whoever was holding the device.
- Keep your password to yourself. A till PIN is not a password and is not a substitute for one.
- Give people the smallest role that lets them do their job. A cashier cannot see the shop's takings; that is deliberate, and widening it is your call to make and yours to live with.
- When somebody leaves, deactivate them. When a device goes, revoke it — both are in the app, and both take seconds.
- Tell us promptly if you think somebody is in your account who should not be.
04What Tabworthy is
Tabworthy is a point-of-sale app. It records what you sell, what you take, what is left on the shelf, and who keeps coming back. It works offline and syncs when there is signal.
It is not an accountant, a bank, or a tax filing. The figures it shows are drawn from what was entered at the till, and they are only ever as right as that. Your books, your tax returns and your regulatory filings remain yours to get right, and you should keep your own records rather than relying on us as your only copy.
05Your data is yours
Your shop's data belongs to your shop. We hold it to run the service for you, and for nothing else — we do not sell it, and we do not mine it.
You can export the lot as CSV files at any time, from inside the app, without asking us. We built that in early and on purpose: a business that cannot get its own trading record out of a tool is a business trapped in it.
You are responsible for what you put in. If you record a customer's name and number, that is your decision and you are the one who owes them an explanation for it. Section 3 of thePrivacy Policy covers how that works.
06Payments and payouts
Where you take mobile money or card payments through Tabworthy, the payment itself is handled by Paystack. Using that part of the app means you also agree to their terms, and they — not we — are the ones moving the money.
- Fees. A payment carries a processing fee. The app shows you the fee and what lands before you take the payment, and again on the record afterwards.
- Settlement. Money reaches the account you nominate on the provider's schedule, not ours. What Tabworthy shows you is what the provider has told us.
- Getting the destination right is yours. Check the bank or mobile money account you nominate. We cannot recall money that has settled into an account you asked us to send it to.
- Disputes and refunds between you and your customer are between you and your customer. We will give you every record we hold to help you settle one.
07Using it properly
Do not use Tabworthy to:
- break the law where you trade, or sell what you are not allowed to sell;
- launder money, or process payments for somebody else's business as if they were yours;
- get into an account that is not yours, or attack, probe or overload the service;
- resell it, rebuild it from the outside, or run it as a service for businesses that are not yours.
If a shop is doing any of that we may suspend it, and where the harm is serious we may do so without warning.
08Early access and uptime
Tabworthy is in early access. Some of it is still moving, some of it will change on the strength of what merchants tell us, and there will be bugs. If you are on a beta build through TestFlight, you are seeing work in progress by design.
The app is offline-first, so the till keeps selling when the network does not — that is the whole architecture, not a feature we added. But the cloud half depends on services we do not own, and we cannot promise it is never down.
We provide the service as is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change or remove parts of it. Where a change is significant we will tell you before it lands.
09What it costs
While Tabworthy is in early access, the app is free to use. Payment processing fees are separate and are charged on each payment — those are shown to you before you take it.
We will introduce pricing eventually. When we do, you will hear it from us before it starts, with enough notice to decide whether to carry on, and with your data exportable the whole time.
10Ending it
You can stop whenever you like. Deleting your account in the app ends this agreement and removes your business from our systems — see section 9 of thePrivacy Policy for exactly what that does. Export anything you want to keep first; once it is gone we cannot get it back for you.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks section 7, or where we are required to. Other than that, we will give you notice and a chance to get your data out.
11Liability
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Beyond that: we are not liable for lost profits, lost sales, lost goodwill, or for data you could have exported and did not. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you have paid us for the service in the twelve months before it arose — which, while the app is free, may be nothing.
We know how that reads to a shop that has lost a day's trade. It is the ordinary shape of a software agreement, and it is why we build the till to keep working offline and to hand you your own data on demand rather than asking you to trust a clause.
12Law, changes and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana, and the courts of Ghana have jurisdiction over any dispute.
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app rather than quietly changing the date at the top of this page. Carrying on using Tabworthy after a change means you accept it. If you do not, close the account — that is always available and your data always comes with you.
